Meet Saw Li Yoong, a Lalamove Ride driver and the first feature in our Driver Stories series.
We first met Li Yoong when she was crowned the winner of the Lalamove Jom Move Challenge in the Ride category, completing over 151 orders in less than two months.
With her bubbly, friendly personality, Li Yoong shared her experience with Lalamove Ride and what makes it stand out from other platforms.
A 9-to-5 Hustler on Her Own Terms
Li Yoong drives for Lalamove part-time. After her 9-to-5, she opens the app and chooses orders that fit her schedule, destination or fare.
She typically takes just three orders a day. To anyone else, that might seem small but for Li Yoong, it’s enough to earn extra income while protecting her peace of mind.

For Li Yoong, it’s the freedom to choose her own orders that truly sets Lalamove apart from other e-hailing platforms.
She emphasised that Lalamove offers the freedom to choose her own pickups, destinations and fares based on what works for me.
“I think Lalamove is a very good platform,” she said.
Having tried more structured systems on other e-hailing platforms, Li Yoong realised she prefers having a say in the jobs she takes.
Since joining Lalamove in August, she’s leaned towards focusing on the platform more, as it fits her schedule and rhythm better.
More Earnings, More Smiles
Lalamove Ride also offers drivers to take home 99% of their commission per trip, making it an even sweeter deal compared to other platforms.
For Li Yoong, this is reason enough to keep driving with Lalamove.
“Customers seem very happy too! That’s really encouraging,” she shared.
As the Jom Move Challenge winner, Li Yoong took home RM2,000 in prize money.
With a bright smile, she told us her plans: a portion for donation and the rest to treat her family and friends during the upcoming festive season.
For Li Yoong, driving with Lalamove is all about cherishing the flexibility, bonuses and the freedom to hustle on her own terms.
