Q: Can you introduce yourself and tell us what vehicle you drive for Lalamove?

My name is Dinakaran. I’ve been using my Honda City to drive part-time for Lalamove.

Q: What went through your mind when you got the call that you won the grand prize EV bike?

To be honest, I thought it was a scam at first! The caller said, "Congratulations, you are the Lalamove winner," and mentioned they’d send a form for me to fill out.

I left the message on read and started asking my driver friends if this was legit. Some said scam, others said it was real. Suddenly, the Lalamove representative called me back to reassure me, "Don't worry, it’s real!"

I submitted my details, and two to three days later, I saw my name officially posted on Lalamove’s Instagram page. That’s when it hit me. I could hardly believe it because I had only been driving part-time for two months!

The Part-Time Hustle & Motivation

Q: How often were you driving during those two months to complete the mission?

I completed over 100 orders. I was relentless. Every day after finishing my main job at 5:30 PM, I would drive until 11:00 PM or midnight. On Saturdays, I drove full-time to maximise my orders.

Q: What motivated you to start driving for Lalamove in the first place?

Extra income. I was in the middle of changing jobs and had extra time during my resignation period, so I used those evenings to earn extra money. Now that I’ve settled into my new job, I still keep it up part-time.

Q: What are your plans for your new EV motorbike?

I’ll probably use it for quick daily errands near my house, like popping over to the neighbourhood shop to buy groceries.

Q: Would you join another Lalamove competition in the future?

Yeah, sure, definitely!

It was very smooth. I registered on day one, and by the next day my account was approved, and I was ready to start taking orders.

Q: Did you face any challenges when you first hit the road?

Since I was new, I didn't fully know all the in-app steps yet. On my very first order, I forgot to take a proof-of-delivery picture, but I figured out the process right after. Overall, it’s been a great experience!
