"My children mean the world to me" - Celebrating Mother's Day with Lalamove
The Lalamove driver-partner community is made up of a melting pot of people from all walks of life. As Forrest Gump once said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get", Lalamove's driver-partner community is pretty much as diverse as your favourite chocolate gift box.
As Mother's Day approaches, we at Lalamove want to take a moment to honour and celebrate the incredible mothers who work tirelessly to support their families, all while ensuring their children receive the love, care, and attention they need to thrive.
We were fortunate enough to have met driver-partner Rey Ann Theo, who graciously invited us into her lovely home to have a sneak peek of how she juggles motherhood (of twin boys, no less!), her full-time job in the tech industry, as well as Lalamove delivery orders.
Wearing Three Hats - Loving Mother, Full-time Work, Lalamove Delivery Orders
Motherhood in and of itself is an arduous but immensely satisfying journey. Ask any mother that you know (or maybe your own) and we are certain that they'll agree. How about being a mother, while juggling both a full-time job in the IT industry and a side hustle? Sounds like a task that only a hero could possibly take on. Enter Rey Ann.
We all only have 24 hours a day, and Rey Ann makes the most out of them by waking up right at the break of dawn to prepare her sons for school and making the five-minute walk across the road with them. On the days when she gets to work from home, she starts preparing for her job and logs in at around 8.30am, and only settles down for brunch at 10.30am while continuing her tasks.
At around 11am, Rey Ann prepares for another kind of task - her Lalamove delivery orders. She will begin to look for suitable delivery orders on the Lalamove driver app and accepts orders that are near where she stays. Rey Ann then runs out to do her delivery orders for around two hours before heading back to pick up her sons from school at 1.15pm.
After which, it's back to her full-time job while taking care of her children. At 6pm, she logs off from work and starts preparing dinner for her family.
Lalamoving Through Parenthood
Parenthood is no mean feat, and choosing to juggle a full-time job, parenthood, and Lalamove orders requires a superhero's strength. As we watched Rey Ann go about her day, we wondered why she decided to pick up a side hustle in the first place, given that she already has quite a bit on her plate.
"I chose Lalamove because I have been using the platform for a long time for my deliveries. It's popular and trustworthy", said Rey Ann. We then found out that when her family car was purchased earlier in the year, she was thinking of ways to earn some extra income to help pay off her car-related expenses when she saw an advertisement for Lalamove on Facebook.
Lalamove's driver-partners enjoy unparalleled flexibility. They are not subject to any minimum orders or hours spent on the app, or any other sort of restriction. They are free to take as many or as few orders as they want, a perfect side hustle for a working parent.
But at the end of the day, Rey Ann does it all for her kids.
Rey Ann and her twin sons, Asher and Aaron
She will be the first to admit that juggling so much is very challenging, but yet extremely fulfilling. "When I feel tired, I would just think of my twin sons and remind myself that I am a mother, and my children are my life. They mean the world to me", says Rey Ann, on how she finds the motivation and energy to do all that she does.
And through a Lalamove delivery order Rey Ann picked up when heading home one day, she saw her children overwhelmed with happiness. When out with her sons visiting relatives one day, she decided to check for delivery orders that coincided with her journey home and saw a request for a balloon delivery order. Her sons were ecstatic to see the load of balloons to be delivered and had the time of their lives playing their part in the order by helping to secure them in the back seat of the car.
Upon reaching the delivery location, Rey Ann and her sons were equally amazed to see that they had to deliver the balloons to a yacht club. Amazed by the experience, Rey Ann recounted that her sons asked whether they could deliver more balloons to nice places.
Rey Ann's story is a testament to the incredible strength and resilience of mothers everywhere. To all mothers in the Lalamove driver-partner community and beyond, you are the real superheroes out there. This Mother's Day, we celebrate and honour the superhero moms like Rey Ann who go above and beyond to provide for their families while showering their children with unconditional love and support.
