From Engineering to Goat Farming and Lalamove With Anandh
In today's fast-paced world, the stories of individuals making dramatic career shifts are always inspiring.
One such story is that of Anandh, a former engineer turned goat farmer and Lalamove driver.
His journey from the corporate IT world to the serene fields of agriculture and the bustling roads as a delivery driver is a tale of passion and a quest for a fulfilling life.
A Shift in Perspective
Anandh graduated as an engineering student and initially embarked on a career in the IT industry.
However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic made him reevaluate his life and career choices.
He realised the importance of contributing to society in a meaningful way and sought to find a more sustainable and organic lifestyle.
Venturing into Agriculture
With a desire to provide organic food for his family and community, Anandh decided to venture into agriculture.
He started a goat farm, driven by his passion for organic farming and the need for a steady food supply.
"After COVID hit, I wanted to do something for myself regarding food. So I ventured into agriculture and goat farming," Anandh explains.
He wanted to ensure that the food he consumed was healthy and organic, which led to the establishment of his goat farm.
Balancing Agriculture and Logistics
During the pandemic, he noticed a significant boom in the logistics industry and decided to join Lalamove to earn extra income.
"The income from agriculture initially was insufficient, so I looked for ways to earn additional income. One option was Lalamove," he shares.
Anandh has been driving for Lalamove for almost a year, starting his journey in October 2023.
He appreciates the flexibility that the job offers, allowing him to manage his farm and drive deliveries without a strict schedule.
"If I want to work now, I can; if I don't want to, I can go offline and do my farm work. It's very flexible," Anandh remarks.
The Joy of Driving
Driving has always been a passion for Anandh. He finds solace and peace while on the road, making his job as a Lalamove driver more enjoyable.
"Driving is my main thing where I release stress," he says.
One of his favourite experiences was a long delivery trip to Terengganu.
"The road was empty, so it was my ideal driving journey," Anandh recalls, highlighting his love for long drives and the sense of freedom they bring.
Challenges and Triumphs
Anandh has had his fair share of memorable moments, including being playfully butted and kicked by the goats.
He also recalls the biggest sales come during festive seasons like Hari Raya Haji and Deepavali, where he sells up to 50 goats in a week.
Anandh's commitment to providing quality organic meat is evident.
He ensures that the right individuals do the slaughtering process, maintaining halal status to cater to all customers.
Looking Ahead
Anandh's long-term goal is financial freedom.
"When people say you did engineering, why not go somewhere else, I say I want to do what I want.”
“That's why I'm happy to be a goat farmer and a Lalamove driver," Anandh asserts.
Anandh's journey from engineering to goat farming and driving for Lalamove is a testament to the power of following one's passion.
His story reminds us that fulfilment comes from pursuing what truly makes us happy, even if it means taking uncommon paths.
