The heroes who deliver: Lalamove continues to give recognition to partner drivers, arms them with monthly fuel allowance

Heroes Behind the Wheel 2026 continues the company's push to strengthen driver livelihoods, in time for National Heroes Day

AUGUST 2026, MANILA, Philippines — For the drivers and riders who move the country's people and parcels, the job is an exercise in doing more with less. Fuel prices stay high and unsteady, with little sign of relief soon. Nowadays, what separates a good day from a hard one is simply the price of gas. That they keep at it, serving customers and providing for their families, is heroism of an everyday kind.

Among the companies these drivers partner with is Lalamove, the leading on-demand delivery and ride-hailing platform. This year, Lalamove celebrates National Heroes Day by providing 15 of its partner drivers with six months of fuel support, as part of its ongoing efforts to help them get ahead.

The support comes through Heroes Behind the Wheel, Lalamove Philippines' yearly tribute to its partner drivers. And it gets better: 6 of the 15 winners—those with the most inspiring and interesting stories—each get a vlog produced for them, with either Charuth or JB Suarez—two of today’s most-watched local content creators known for their witty, humorous videos—joining them on their adventure.

The ₱10,000 monthly gas allowance each of the 15 receives for six months is loaded on a Petron E-Fuel Card. And with fuel being the highest recurring cost for most drivers, rather than a one-time payout, it arrives month after month, for as long as a partner driver keeps taking bookings. It lands where it is felt, in how much of a day's earnings makes it home.

The fuel allowance adds to what Lalamove partner drivers already get. They take deliveries or transport passengers through a single app and can cash out their earnings weekly, so a hard day's work becomes money in hand without a long wait. Incentives and rewards come on top of what a booking pays. The platform also keeps demand steady, so a driver who logs on can count on always having bookings—whether for a parcel delivery or a passenger ride.

"We want to support our partner drivers’ earnings so that they can provide for their families, especially now, when the cost of living keeps rising," said Djon Nacario, Managing Director, Lalamove Philippines. "We want them to have steady support they can count on. They are the ones who make sure a passenger or a customer's delivery arrives on time and safely, day in and day out, and they deserve to be recognized for it."

Continuing the tradition of celebration

Now in its second year in the Philippines, the Heroes Behind the Wheel campaign invites partner drivers to send in their stories from the road. More than 1,000 drivers wrote in this year.

National Heroes Day honors the Filipinos who gave themselves for others. Lalamove’s partner drivers do a quieter version of it now, working through the holiday so a package, medicine, or a gift reaches someone on time.

For this year’s campaign, audiences get a peek into the life of 6 featured partner drivers, allowing more people to appreciate the heroic work they do. They are Bernadeth Alcantara, the only female 600kg driver on the platform; Samantha Althea Rabara, who drives an L300 part-time while finishing a criminology degree; Jay-R Villanueva, a licensed teacher waiting for a permanent post; Jeffrey Pardillo, who takes the long-distance trips most city drivers turn down; Nicolai Karangalan, trusted by his customers for cargo that arrives intact; and Arl Iverson Villanueva, a former fast-food worker who counts deliveries of medicine, for sick pets and for patients, among the runs he remembers most. Together with Charuth and JB, the vlog episodes bring these inspiring stories to life with plenty of heart, humor, and memorable moments.

Recognizing the heroes that keep us moving

Countless moments on the road may seem ordinary, but each one reflects the dedication it takes to keep people, businesses, and communities connected. Lalamove’s Heroes Behind the Wheel gives these everyday efforts the recognition they deserve, shining a light on the partner drivers who show up, keep going, and play an essential role in our daily lives. Set to be a yearly activity, the campaign is a reminder that behind every delivery is a person whose work helps keep the world around us moving.
